THIS WEEK:

•Friday, Aug. 3 - The Niagara Region of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will hold from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. an evening walk at Beaver Island State Park. The journey will start with a visit at the Beaver Island Nature Center and from there explore the lagoon and shoreline of the Niagara River. For information and registration, call 282-5154.

•Saturday, Aug. 4 - Call Bible Presbyterian Church at 773-7303 for more information about the Middlers'/Marrieds' Fellowship Dinner/Concert at Odosagih.

LOOKING AHEAD:

•Sunday, Aug. 5 - Rev. Tom Stiles of New Yorker's Family Research Foundation will speak at morning and evening worship services at Bible Presbyterian Church, 1650 Love Road.

•Monday, Aug. 6, through Friday, Aug. 10 - The Grand Island Cooperative Nursery School welcomes children ages 3, 4 and 5 years old to the Camp Co-op Preschool Summer Program. For an application or information, call Vicki at 480-2836 or Nancy at 812-8687.

•Tuesday, Aug. 14 - The East Park Garden Club will host its annual picnic at 6 p.m. at the home of Krista Drexelius, 1149 Whitehaven Road. For information, call 984-2645.

•Sunday, Aug. 19 - The American Legion Grand Island Post No. 1346 reminds members of the annual family picnic to be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the picnic grounds of the Grand Island Moose Lodge 180, 2625 Grand Island Blvd. Those wishing to attend the picnic can call Post Commander Fred Wornick at 773-9394, or Adjutant George DeGlopper at 773-5333, before Aug. 12. A head count is needed for ordering food.

•Monday, Aug. 20 - The Kiwanis Cub of Grand Island will host an organizational meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Grand Island Memorial Library, 1715 Bedell Road. For information, contact Lt. Gov. Candace Corsaro at 804-4698.

•Saturday, Aug. 25 - The Grand Island Central School District and the Buffalo Bisons present Grand Island Community Night beginning at 6:05 p.m. at Coca-Cola Field in downtown Buffalo. August Events

•Monday, Aug. 6 - The Senior Center Travel Club will meet at 10 a.m. Upcoming trips include a Williamsburg, Va., holiday tour from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4. Contact Barbara Gannon (773-9683) to make reservations. Other day trips are being planned for August and other upcoming months. The Travel Club will start discussing trips for spring and fall of 2013.

•Tuesday, Aug. 7 - A representative of Blue Cross Blue Shield will visit the center from 10 to 11:30 a.m. to answer any questions regarding health insurance.
