The public is invited to spend a day in the sun with the family of the late Jonathan Miller as they gather funds to support local communities. The J-Mill Memorial Charity Giving Fund's third annual golf outing and dinner is scheduled this year for Monday, Aug. 13, at the Niagara Frontier Country Club in Youngstown.

"The fund gives back to local community organizations that share Jonathan's beliefs in giving back," says Kevin Miller, Jonathan's father.

Jonathan Miller, popularly known as "J-Mill," was the victim of a fatal accident back in November 2009, when his SUV hit a tree while en route to Niagara University for a workout. He had an undetected medical condition, which affected him while he was driving.

Born to Kevin and Jeannine Miller in 1992, Jonathan was popular athletically and through his non-yielding service in caring for the poor and elderly. He was involved in community organizations including a food pantry. He was accepted into Niagara University for the coming school year only a week prior to his passing.

Jonathan was employed at the time by The Brickyard Pub & B.B.Q., which is the founder of this golf outing. Last year, the fund raised more than $10,000 during the event, and the family has hopes of breaking that record this coming August.

The public has the option of attending the dinner and/or participating in the golfing activities. Dinner includes a cash bar/cocktail hour beginning at 5 p.m., with dinner an hour later, as well as a Chinese auction and 50/50 drawing. Casual attire is requested and the dinner cost is $40. Golfing enthusiasts can enjoy the entire day for $140, which includes golf, a cart, a lunch at 11 a.m., dinner and prizes. Registration for golfers begins at 10 a.m., and golfing will commence with a "shot-gun start" at noon.

There is an expected turnout of more than 100 golfers and 200 dinner attendees this year. Donations of any kind, especially baskets and basket items, cash donations, and gift certificates, are currently sought for the event.

Sponsorship opportunities are also offered. Hole sponsors will receive a sign advertising their business, as well as inclusion in the cocktail hour and lunch with a donation of $100. Donations can be made directly to the fund most conveniently through its website at http://www.j-mill.org. More information is available online, as well as by contacting Kevin Miller at 716-946-8289.
