Students in the Lewiston-Porter Middle School Honor Society are cooking up a tribute to the War of 1812 Bicentennial by hosting a spaghetti dinner on Tuesday, May 15. Proceeds will benefit Old Fort Niagara's educational programming. Money raised will help to underwrite War of 1812 programming at the fort this summer and outreach programs that OFN is offering to communities throughout Niagara County.
The students join several other groups supporting a new offering called "Blue Coats Along the Niagara," a living history program that focuses on the American Army at Fort Niagara during the early years of the War of 1812. 2012 will be the first time in the old fort's modern history that an American garrison will be portrayed on a daily basis.
Tickets for the dinner are $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and under. They will be available at the door. The event will take place from 3:30 until 7 p.m. in the middle school cafeteria.
