Longtime insurance agent and former Lewiston businessman Joel Holka has relocated. He recently opened Joel Holka Insurance Agency at 8575 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls.

Holka said his new office is in a higher-traffic location. More than that, "It's also my old neighborhood," he said. "I grew up in LaSalle and went to LaSalle Junior and Senior High School. This location was on my walk to school."

Holka and his staff presently work with more than a dozen different insurance companies. Some of their carriers include Progressive, Preferred Mutual, Merchants Mutual and Travelers.

"Now that I represent 15 companies, I have options that I never had before," Holka said. "Instead of fitting a client into the only company I was writing for, I now do the complete opposite. I find a company that is right for the client - price-wise and product-wise. I also have options down the road, such as re-shopping their policy if the company I originally write them with takes a big rate increase on their renewal. I also have the availability to write high-risk policies and a broad range of commercial coverages."

Holka is now a member of the Consolidated Insurance Agents Group (Williamsville). Find him online at www.holkainsurance.com. His office is located between Military and Tuscarora roads (side entrance). Reach him or his staff at 298-7540.

In addition to insurance, Holka has presented the "Holka Maximum Effort Award" for the past 24 years to local high school football players.

"Winners of the award are voted on by fellow teammates and coaches," Holka said. "Award winners are hard workers, have positive attitudes, never give up in tough situations, and provide inspirational leadership to their teammates by leading by example."

This year's winners include Kevin McMurray of Lewiston-Porter and Mahmoud Zeidan of Niagara-Wheatfield (Click here to see photos).
