Record heat greeted race fans and drivers alike last Friday night at Ransomville Speedway. Hats off to the awesome fans of the Big R who came out in support of their favorite drivers and their favorite sport despite the sticky conditions. Mother Nature was not a fan during the spring, but has rebounded nicely, providing plenty of dry conditions as of late.

Todd Burley used a move to the inside of Randy Chrysler on the final corner of the final lap to take the lead and the win aboard the 30-lap Mighty Taco Modified main event.

Burley, of Spencerport, has had a difficult season to say the least. After destroying his car back on May 13, Burley had to literally start from scratch. It all came together on Friday as he came home the victor for the first time in 2011. Points-leader Pete Bicknell came from deep in the pack to finish in second, followed by Jeff McGinnis, Chad Brachmann and Scott Kerwin. Boyd MacTavish enjoyed his best finish of the season in sixth followed by birthday boy Ryan Susice. Chrysler failed to make weight.

"Wow" is the only word to describe the Original Pizza Logs Sportsman 25-lap feature main. Mark Chiddy and Jesse Cotriss put on a show to end all shows as they battled bumper-to-bumper and side-by-side through the final seven laps. The fans were certainly on the edges of their seats to see who would best the other. On the final circuit, it would be Cotriss with the advantage as the pair came off turn two. Cotriss captured a very popular win followed by Chiddy, Greg Martin, James Henry and Don Spatorico.

Chris Burek of Wilson collected his first win of the season aboard the Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock division. Coming home with what appeared to be a runner-up finish, Burek was awarded the win when apparent winner Brandon Sherwood failed to make weight in post-race inspections. Burek came from the 10th-place starting position. Jake Stefanski, Billy Coleman, Derrick Borkenhagen and Gerald Poole rounded out the top five.

Jim Stone of Ransomville took top honors for the first time in 2011 aboard the Bobcat of Buffalo Fireball 12-lap feature main. Stone took the lead away from Dick Wilkinson on lap four and never looked back. Representing the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Co. firehall, Stone took the win over Jamie Woods, Jim Harbison, Chris Leone and Pat O'Keefe. Harbison came from the eighth starting position to post the top-three finish. Matt Matson went from the penthouse to the outhouse as he ended up going for a rough ride into the front stretch moat after taking his first career win one week ago. Matson was A-OK, but the same could not be said for his racer.
