Margaret Talarico, the genial vintner and tour guide at Village Vineyard Wine Boutique, is leaving the business behind to help look after her grandchildren.

The Village Vineyard opened in November 2005.

"It's been such an incredibly enjoyable business in such a wonderful community - great for someone wanting a presence on Center Street," she said. "You can't beat the festivals, wine tastings and Artpark. No one can deny Lewiston is a good time."

Family, however, comes first for the mother of three.

"With growing family responsibilities, helping out with two small grandchildren and an elderly father, there just isn't enough time to devote to the business," Talarico said. "Hopefully someone will take over and enjoy the experience as much as I, and have a great time in doing so."

Talarico plans to train someone to run the operations at 467 Center St.

"We carry wines from all over the world, as well as our own Niagara Wine Trail wines," she said. The business also serves as a starting point for limousine-guided wine tours.

Now, in addition to looking after her family, Talarico has her sights set on a new goal.

"As semi-retired, maybe I'll take up golfing with my husband," she said. "Just kidding, honey!"
