Last Friday's Niagara Frontier League boys basketball game between Niagara-Wheatfield and visiting Grand Island was also a fundraiser for Coaches vs. Cancer, an endeavor championed by  Norm Stewart, former head coach of the University of Missouri's men's basketball program and a cancer survivor, and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

To mark the event, the Falcons cheerleaders wore pink throughout the game, the referees used pink whistles to make calls, and the Vikings players wore pink shoelaces.

The Falcons went on to beat the Vikings 62-42 as four players scored in double figures. Jerret Smith led the Falcons with 18 points. Jake Hughes, pictured challenging Dylan Kelly's shot in the lane, had 12 points. Anthony Patterson had 11 and Mo Bissel added 10 for N-W. (photos by Larry Austin)
