Just in time for the early spring gardening season, on May 4, the Shaded Dahlia, 2419 Grand Island Blvd., offered a plant pop-up sale just outside the store.

The plants were from Flowers and Dreams in Williamsville, and they were sold by the store’s owner, Sean Nordlund.

“We were actually shopping at Flowers and Dreams in Williamsville,” Shaded Dahlia co-owner Sara Black said. “And it came up in conversation (with Nordlund). He talked about the pop-ups he had done in the past and brought up doing one here. We love plants, so we thought it sounded amazing. And here we are.”

Inside Shaded Dahlia, there were light sabers and other “Star Wars” memorabilia.

“It’s also May the Fourth, which is a big ‘Star Wars’ holiday,” Black said. “We’ve got our Grogu balloon up there, and we have some ‘Star Wars’ flash, as well. So, we’ve got plant flash and ‘Star Wars’ flash for today. And then, piercing specials and all kinds of discounts going on.”

The Shaded Dahlia recently added a second piercer and a second tattoo artist to its staff.

Co-owner Daniel Black said, “I’m just excited to draw in more of a crowd. It helps raise small business awareness for both of us. It helps us out. It helps Sean out.”

Sara Black said she would be interested in having another pop-up sale: “If anyone is interested in pop-ups, please reach out and we can figure out how we can make it beneficial for each other and help each other out.”
