The Minority Bar Foundation to host annual awards ceremony

3 law students will receive scholarships honoring legacy of late Hon. Hugh B. Scott

The Minority Bar Foundation, in conjunction with the family of the late Hon. Hugh B. Scott, announces the winners of three scholarships that will be presented at its 40th annual awards ceremony. The event is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at The Buffalo Club, 388 Delaware Ave., Buffalo. City of Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown will be the keynote speaker.

A press release stated, “These scholarships will honor the legacy of Judge Scott’s commitment to his family, his community and the legal profession. Judge Scott was a trailblazer, serving as the first Black assistant U.S. attorney and first Black to serve as a federal judge in the Western District of New York.”

The winners are:

Allen Greer – $11,000

Khalia Muir – $11,000

Emmanuel Wright – $7,000

The Minority Bar Association Foundation was formed in 2004 to advance education and scholarship in the field of law. It works to ensure continued minority representation in the profession, and empower future leaders to help shape the justice system in Western New York and throughout New York state. Professional guidance, education programs and financial assistance with LSAT preparation are provided to students at all levels. Additionally, University at Buffalo School of Law students are mentored with resources to excel at passing the New York State Bar exam.
