U.S. News & World Report: Catholic Health hospitals 'High Performing' in key specialty services

Hospitals recognized in top 10% nationally for heart, stroke, vascular, joint replacement, maternity care

U.S. News & World Report, a leader in hospital rankings and consumer advice, has named three Catholic Health hospitals “High Performing” in the Buffalo Region for 2023-24 in every one of its key medical specialties:

√ Mercy Hospital of Buffalo – stroke, heart bypass surgery, heart attack, maternity care

√ Kenmore Mercy Hospital – knee and hip replacements

√ Sisters Hospital – abdominal aortic aneurysm repair and maternity care

“The expert physicians and providers in our specialized centers for stroke, cardiac, orthopedic, vascular, and maternity care deliver the highest quality medical care,” Catholic Health President and CEO Joyce Markiewicz said. “But we also know it also takes our skilled, compassionate caregivers at the bedside, who are devoted to helping our patients recover and return to their best quality of life, to achieve the superior care recognized by U.S. News & World Report.”

Now in its 34th year, U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” evaluates hospitals in more than 30 medical and surgical specialties to provide patients with data-driven information to make health care decisions.

“A recent survey of U.S. News users revealed more than four in five (84%) consider a hospital's quality metrics to be important factors when deciding where to seek treatment for a serious medical issue,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “Consumers want useful resources to help them assess which hospital can best meet their specific care needs. The 2023-24 best hospitals rankings offer patients and the physicians with whom they consult a data-driven source for comparing performance in outcomes, patient satisfaction, and other metrics that matter to them.”
