Patricia A. Rhoney of Lewiston passed away peacefully on Oct. 5, 2023, at Schoellkopf Health Center in Niagara Falls.

She was born in Niagara Falls on Oct. 6, 1930, the daughter of the late Aloysius and Marie (Lux) Faix.

Patricia graduated from Stella Niagara in 1948. She was the wife of the late Paul J. Rhoney, who passed away on May 25, 2022. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on May 17, 2022.

Patricia was energized by travel and invigorated by her experiences abroad – bringing her memories to life for those at home. She deeply valued learning the ways of others – a testament to her keen spirit and connection to our world, a gift instilled upon all she loved.

For over 30 years, Patricia and Paul enjoyed the life of snowbirds, spending over half the year in Fort Myers, Florida. She indulged in her love of nature while exploring the beaches and dunes across Sanibel and Captiva Island with her family. When day was done, you could find her quietly appreciating every sunset over the Gulf’s horizon.

She is survived by her five children: Ann, Mark (Nancy), Claire Gertz (Glen), Paula Jordan and Colette (John Sammis). In addition, Patricia leaves behind four grandchildren: Lily Hoffman (Gabe Schechter), Danielle Fisher (John), David Hoffman and Sean Rhoney; and her great-granddaughter, Cecilia. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Cynthia Rhoney and Mary Alice Wonsiewski; by her brother-in-law, William Wonsiewski; and by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Paul, Patricia was predeceased by her son-in-law, Michael Jordan, and by her brother, L. John Faix.

The Rhoney family would like to convey special thanks to the professional and caring Schoellkopf Health Center staff on NH2, including Lakeisha Marvin, Renee Kramp, Laticia Williams and Bethany Halfety, and also Karen Smith in physical therapy and Adrian Ralands in activities.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in the Sister’s Chapel at Stella Niagara.

Memorials may be made in Patricia’s name to Heart, Love & Soul, 939 Ontario Ave, Niagara Falls, NY 14305.
