New fundraiser for FeedMore WNY set for Aug. 18

Celebrate a vibrant summer evening of music, drinks and fresh summer eats on the Buffalo waterfront at “Party at the Pier,” a new summer fundraiser to benefit FeedMore WNY. Presented by Tops Friendly Markets, the event will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Wilkeson Pointe, 225 Fuhrmann Blvd., Buffalo.

“Party at the Pier” will feature food by Fresh Catch Poke Co., including a New England seafood boil, hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken, summer salads and desserts. General admission guests can enjoy an open bar of wine, beer and hard seltzer from Hartman’s Distilling Co. VIP admission includes specialty seafood rolls, a shrimp cocktail, swordfish sliders and non-seafood offerings, plus a full open bar and specialty cocktails from Hartman’s Distilling Co. and Rec Room. Vegan and gluten-free options will be available for both general and VIP admissions. “Party at the Pier” guests also will enjoy music by DJ Sike, as well as games and a silent auction. Guests must be age 21 or older to attend.

Tickets are $75 for general admission or $125 for VIP access. Attendees also may add on the $25 “Shuck Shack Special,” which includes six freshly shucked oysters from Shuck Shack and a glass of sparkling wine. Tickets and more information can be found at www.feedmorewny.org/party-at-the-pier/.

“Tops is proud to be the presenting sponsor of this exciting new event for FeedMore WNY,” said Kristen Hanson, group vice president for Tops Friendly Markets and board member for FeedMore WNY. “Finding new and innovative ways to engage our community to educate them about food insecurity is paramount in making a change in this ongoing crisis that impacts every facet of this community.”

Michael Tobin, founder of Fresh Catch Poke Co. and Shuck Shack Buffalo, said, “We are truly honored and excited to be working with FeedMore WNY, Tops, Hartman’s Distilling, the team at Rec Room and so many other industry colleagues to bring a fun summer seafood event to the Outer Harbor. FeedMore WNY is an incredible asset to the WNY community, and we wanted to show that appreciation by getting outside and celebrating everything that they do.”

Proceeds from “Party at the Pier” will benefit FeedMore WNY as it continues to provide nutritious food and support to food-insecure community members of all ages throughout Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties. Last year alone, FeedMore WNY assisted more than 197,000 individuals through its various programs and services – more than the number of people served by the organization in 2020 at the height of the pandemic.

Lisa Woodring, executive vice president of external affairs for FeedMore WNY, said, “We are grateful for the continued support of the community as we work to fulfill our mission of providing dignity, hope and a brighter future for our Western New Yorkers in need. The proceeds from ‘Party at the Pier’ will enable FeedMore WNY to provide nutritious food to children as they head back to school next month, nourish our homebound neighbors who rely on our volunteers to deliver nutritious meals and a friendly visit, stock the shelves of our partner food pantries and so much more. We hope that everyone can join us on Friday, Aug. 18, for a fun summer evening to support our food-insecure neighbors.”
