Preservation Buffalo Niagara (PBN) announced that, after a nationwide search, Bernice Radle will serve as the organization’s new executive director starting April 3.

With over 10 years of work and activism in the Buffalo area, Radle is the owner and CEO of Buffalove Development and Little Wheel Restoration Co. She is also the vice chair of the City of Buffalo Zoning Board of Appeals, and a faculty member of the Incremental Development Alliance. She was also the host of “American Rehab Buffalo” on the DIY Network. She has a B.S. in urban planning and regional analysis from Buffalo State University.

Radle will be transitioning out of her role at Buffalove Development in March.

Margie Pawloski, chair of the board of trustees, said, “The PBN board of directors is very excited to work with Bernice, as we begin to implement our new strategic plan. She brings great enthusiasm to the position of executive director and to the work of our organization.”

Of her new role, Radle said, “I look forward to working with PBN’s board and staff to advance historic preservation in Buffalo and Niagara Falls. I am excited to use my first-hand restoration experience and knowledge of historic buildings to assist others in their restoration journey. The future of preservation is about action!”

A press release explained, “Radle joins the organization at a critical time. As executive director, Radle will spearhead efforts to implement PBN’s new three-year strategic plan and ensure the organization’s work is as impactful as it can be in the community. She will also support the current staff to maintain the amazing portfolio of preservation-centric events and programs for which PBN is known and loved.”

Radle replaces Interim Executive Director Corey Fabian-Barrett, who agreed to lead the organization during the transition period following former Executive Director Jessie Fisher’s departure in December 2022. Fabian-Barrett will return to her regular role as PBN’s director of operations and grants management after Radle joins PBN in April.
