A charity compilation titled “Christmas Smooth,” featuring music legends such as the Pointer Sisters, Al Jarreau, and Climax Blues Band, will support Young People in Recovery, a national nonprofit that supports youth and young adults in recovery from drugs and alcohol. The album boasts Christmas and holiday/seasonal songs performed by a mix of musical heroes from yesterday and today.

The nonprofit Demand Impact, founded by recording artist TJ George, teamed with John and Tom Nixon, creators of the podcast “Out of the Main,” to release a collection of Christmas songs that cannot be found in their entirety anywhere else but the Demand Impact website.

George, whose own son struggled with substance use disorder after being prescribed opioids at age 13 after a skateboarding accident, explained, “I had to do something, so I did what I knew.”

George said he wanted to ensure that the proceeds of the music went to a group that would have the most impact among young people to support their recovery.

“These are incredible artists who all are called to make an impact using their gift, and to see real change happen in our lifetimes," he said.

“Young People in Recovery is honored to be the recipient of the first year’s proceeds of the album,” said YPR’s executive director, Ann Herbst. “To have these world-famous artists step up for young people who are struggling with substance use is truly inspiring and uplifting. It’s what the holidays are all about.”
