Phil Vassar releases original holiday tune 'Brand New Year' with Deana Carter

Platinum-selling Phil Vassar "ushers in the feel-good Christmas spirit" (Taste of Country) with singer-songwriter Deana Carter as the pair release "Brand New Year" ahead of a Christmas tour. Taste of Country exclusively premiered the track, which was co-written by Vassar and Carter with No. 1 hit songwriter and Songwriters Hall of Fame member Steve Dorff.

"Deana is one of my oldest and dearest friends,” Vassar said. “She is actually one of the first people I met when I came to town, and I’m just so excited to get to go on this tour with her! 'Brand New Year' is a song we wrote together with Steve Dorff. It’s a new, old-school-sounding classic Christmas song. I love that it reminds me of what I grew up listening to: Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra or Bing Crosby.”

Carter said, “I’m so in love with the new Christmas songs that I got to write with Phil and Steve Dorff, and can’t wait to be on tour singing them to ring in the best season of the year! I truly believe that ‘Brand New Year’ could be a new standard ‘go-to’ for the holidays for years to come!”

Fans have made it a tradition to join Vassar for an evening of Christmas classics and original holiday music, packing out venues for his last four tours. "Coming Home for Christmas" will be the sixth Christmas tour for Vassar, whose career has garnered 10 No. 1 singles and 26 Top 40 hits, include signature self-penned hits "Just Another Day in Paradise" and "Carlene."
