For many years, Independent Living of Niagara County (ILNC) has encouraged citizens with disabilities to participate in the electoral process and make their preferences known about the candidates on the ballot in November – but first, voters need to learn more about those running to make an informed decision.

ILNC will host a “Meet the Candidates” forum in Niagara Falls on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 2-4 p.m. in the Conference Room at ILNC, located at 746 Portage Road (Haeberle Plaza). The event will be also accessible via Zoom and will be livestreamed on Facebook at www.facebook.com/IndependentLivingNiagara, and WNYIL’s YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/user/WNYIL.

In-person attendance is limited, so registration is required. To register to attend in person or get the details to connect to Zoom, call 716-284-4131, ext. 200.

Candidates invited to participate appearing on the November ballot include those running for U.S. senator and U.S. House of Representatives; New York governor, lieutenant governor, comptroller, attorney general, Supreme Court justice, state senator and state Assembly; Niagara County treasurer and coroner; North Tonawanda city attorney; town justices in Pendleton, Somerset and Wheatfield; Town of Wilson superintendent of highways; and some county committeepersons from each major party.

For more information, contact Hayley at 716-284-4131, ext. 146, or by email at [email protected].

Independent Living of Niagara County is a member of the Western New York Independent Living Inc. family of agencies that offer an expanding array of services to aid individuals with disabilities to take control of their own lives.
