State public utility marks fourth year in national rankings

The New York Power Authority marked its fourth year of being featured in Forbes magazine’s list of Best Mid-Size Employers by placing in the top 500 companies “liked best” by employees in the 2022 annual ranking. NYPA ranked eighth among employers in the utilities industry.

“By investing in its employees, NYPA has created a diverse workplace filled with passionate, inspired and empowered individuals who are transforming the energy industry through best-in-class, innovative solutions,” said NYPA Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer Kristine Pizzo. “We look forward to bolstering NYPA’s reputation as an industry leader and continuing to attract the industry’s best and brightest among our ranks.”

NYPA placed 267th overall on the new list for midsize companies with 1,000 to 5,000 employees in its U.S. operations. NYPA received the distinction of being included on the list in 2018, 2019 and 2021 (the mid-sized employers list was not produced in 2020).

Forbes partnered with Statista, a provider of market research and consumer data, to pinpoint the companies most liked by employees in the annual ranking of America’s best employers.

Statista surveyed around 60,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. All the surveys were conducted anonymously, allowing participants to openly share their opinions. Respondents were asked to rate, on a scale of zero to 10, how likely they’d be to recommend their employer to others. Statista then asked respondents to evaluate other organizations in their respective industries, asking if they stood out positively or negatively.

NYPA, with its central offices in White Plains in the Mid-Hudson region, employs more than 1,900 people in New York, and operates major hydropower projects in Western and Northern New York. Visit NYPA on its website.
