Buffalo City Mission announces donation drive, $5,000 donation from Northtown

Donated items were collected as part of Northtown’s month-long clothing drive

The Buffalo City Mission on Friday announced a monthlong donation drive set up by Northtown Automotive Companies.

This is the second year Northtown has held a donation drive for the City Mission. It collected thousands of items that were delivered in two trucks. Items were collected over the past month as part of Northtown’s clothing drive to support residents in need.

Northtown also presented the City Mission with a $5,000 check to support the agency’s fall campaign, an annual initiative that advances critical programs offered to those in need.

“The City Mission is extraordinarily grateful to Northtown Automotive Companies and the residents of this community who donated,” said Aubrey Calhoun, Associate Executive Director of the Buffalo City Mission. “The generosity expressed by all those involved in the donation will help to continue renewing the lives of those who are struggling within Western New York this season.”

Items from the City Mission’s wish list were purchased by Northtown’s base of more than 850 associates across Western New York. New, unopened items could be donated in person or purchased online and delivered through created digital lists. Items on the wish list included Christmas gifts for the City Missions residents, cold-weather clothing, personal hygiene items, and diapers.

Most recently, the Buffalo City Mission delivered more than 4,500 meals to the poor and homeless across Western New York as part of the “Turkey Express.” The agency is currently seeking volunteers to assist with its upcoming “Christmas Hambone Express.”
