Regrant applications for 2022 proposals now open

Arts Services Inc. announced applications for the Statewide Community Regrant (SCR) fund are now available. Nonprofit organizations, collective and informal groups, government entities, tribal organizations, and individuals interested in doing community-based arts programming or projects are eligible to apply.

The SCR grant program, formerly known as the decentralization or DEC program, supports arts and cultural programming and the creation of new artworks in Erie, Niagara, and Chautauqua counties. It is administered by ASI and funded by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).

The purpose of the SCR grant program is to foster continued development of local arts programming based on the needs of the community. SCR support enables artists and smaller organizations to grow their own programming while enhancing the cultural climate in the communities and neighborhoods where they live and work. Since ASI began administering these funds in 2011, they have awarded over $1.1 million for community-based arts programming.

SCR grants are available in three categories: community arts projects, arts education projects, and individual artist commissions. All proposals must include public arts programming that is open to the community and must take place in the 2022 calendar year.

In addition to the SCR grants, ASI will be administering the Restart NY Regrants, also funded by NYSCA, to eligible applicants in Erie and Niagara counties. Restart NY Regrants are part of NYSCA’s Recovery Fund Initiative designed to help support New York’s return to live performance and in-person events after the detrimental impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. These grants are awarded for live performance projects, as well as other in-person arts projects that feature a public program or presentation, occurring between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2022.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to offer this funding to the vital work the arts industry is doing to support our community,” said ASI Executive Director Jennifer Swan-Kilpatrick. “Now, more than ever, the arts are vital to help us heal and connect with others.”

Applicants of both funds can request between $500 and 5,000 for their arts-based projects. Information sessions for both funds will be held throughout the fall to assist interested applicants with their funding proposals.

Grant recipients will be selected by a panel of arts leaders from the region who review all the applications and make funding recommendations. Arts leaders interested in being part of a grant panel should contact Holly Grant at [email protected] with a resume or bio outlining their qualifications.

Full guidelines and more information about both of these grant opportunities are available online at asiwny.org.
