Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Buffalo wins BBB Torch Award for Ethics

Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York announced Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Buffalo (CCCS) as winner of the Torch Award for Ethics in the Large Nonprofit Category.

BBB’s Torch Awards for Ethics celebrates the commitment made by businesses and nonprofits to the highest standards of leadership, character and organizational ethics. 

“BBB is thrilled to present Noelle and her team with the organization’s first BBB Torch Award for Ethics,” said Warren Clark, president and CEO of Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York. “As a nonprofit focused on helping people with their finances, CCCS Buffalo’s team generates a high level of trust among their clients and the community.”

Established in 1965, CCCS offers a wide array of financial counseling and education services. Counseling sessions focus on proper budgeting techniques, debt repayment options, student loan assistance, small business advice, credit report education, and credit score explanations. CCCS of Buffalo also offers free financial literacy classes both virtually and within the WNY community. In 2020 alone, CCCS of Buffalo assisted over 2,000 clients in paying off $15 million of debt on their journey to becoming debt-free. CCCS of Buffalo prides itself on embracing integrity as a key core value and empowers people with the knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions.

The Torch Award is open to for-profit companies and businesses and also 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) nonprofit organizations of all sizes physically located within upstate New York. Firms need not be BBB Accredited. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations must complete the BBB Charity Review process and must currently meet all 20 BBB standards for charity accountability. An independent panel of judges selected the winners. The judges are community leaders, business professionals, educators and local journalists. The application period ran from Dec. 2, 2020, to Feb. 1, 2021. All applications were submitted online.
