Saturday UPDATE from Mayor Robert Restaino’s office:: “We are happy to report that firefighters cleared the fire scene around 5:30 a.m. this morning. The plant is continuing clean up throughout the day.”
From Mayor Robert Restaino’s office:
A current active fire situation is occurring at the Cascades plant in Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls Fire Department crews responded quickly and, with the mutual aid assistance of other fire departments due to the size of the blaze, the fire is currently contained.
Fire crews are containing the fire in the northeast area of the plant and working to prevent a spread to the northern area of the plant. Weather conditions are contributing to some of the difficulties crew are facing.
