The Kiwanis Club of Lewiston recently began its year with a focus on two subjects that seem to be in the media far too often.

The club welcomed Anchoring Hope to its first meeting for a presentation on drug addiction and mental health. Anchoring Hope is a relatively new, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the charitable purpose of providing opportunities for success and hope for those affected by mental illness and/or addiction.

Pictured, President Lee Allan was proud to present the group with a financial donation to help members in their efforts to achieve the mission. Representing Anchoring Hope was Kim Hubert and Kelly Horschel.

Lewiston Kiwanis also began a service project of assisting the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce with its efforts to keep the give and take food table full of groceries for those in need. Kiwanis’ goal is to collect donations from members on a weekly basis and then make one large donation each month. Our next donation is scheduled for Nov. 21.

Please visit the table if you are in need. Also, if you are able, please consider making donations to this table.

Thank you.
