SBA Buffalo District seeks nominations for Small Business Week 2020

Do you or someone you know have what it takes to become America’s Small Business Person of the Year for 2020? If so, the U.S. Small Business Administration wants to hear from you.

The SBA Buffalo District office announced is ready to accept nominations for its 2020 National and District Small Business Week Awards, including the annual Small Business Person of the Year award.

Locally, Small Business Week will be held May 3-9, 2020. The Small Business Week Awards luncheon will be held from 12:30-2 p.m. Friday, May 8, at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens.

SBA Awards given in celebration of National and District Small Business Week include the following awards:

  • Small Business Person of the Year (national and district)
  • Small Business Exporter (national and district)
  • SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Business of the Year
  • Financial Services Champion of the Year
  • Home-Based Business of the Year
  • Minority Small Business Champion or Business of the Year
  • Veteran Small Business Champion or Business of the Year
  • Women in Business Champion or Business of the Year
  • Government Contracting Champion of the Year

“This is a great opportunity to recognize that certain business or champion who has exemplified in their communities, made an impact, developed creative products or has had outstanding achievements in their business,” SBA District Director Franklin J. Sciortino said.

The Buffalo District office must receive all nominations by mail or hand-delivered (only), no later 3 p.m. Jan. 7, 2020.

The Buffalo district office serves the 14 westernmost counties of New York: Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Wyoming, Orleans, Genesee, Alleghany, Monroe, Livingston, Wayne, Seneca, Yates and Ontario.
