Buffalo Brewing Company will be the exclusive beer sponsor of The Buffalo History Museum, launching on Aug. 16 when The Sheila Divine performs at “Party for the Portico.”

This partnership includes the debut of a signature beer, “1862.” Named after the year The Buffalo History Museum was founded, “1862” is a cream ale that will be available exclusively at museum events and Buffalo Brewing Company’s tasting room and beer garden. A percentage of beer sales will be donated to the museum.

“For Buffalo Brewing Company, this is an extremely natural fit,” shared founders and owners Heather and John Domres Jr. “The brewery pays homage to the communities’ history with commemorative years as beer names. We display the brewing industry’s proud past in this great city. Our brewery is proud to support a Buffalo institution that preserves our city’s history and helps teach future generations about Buffalo’s proud past. ‘1862’ cream ale celebrates the birth of that institution. Its straw yellow color, light body, and mild hop profile make this the perfect beer to enjoy at the museum’s events!”

“Buffalo has a long history of pubs, breweries and brewhouses,” said Melissa Brown, executive director of the museum. “They have served as a source of conviviality and bonding for generations. Shared experiences serve as one of history’s finest means of transport. Glimmers of our heritage shine through the new establishments flourishing throughout the region. To be engrained into this part of Buffalo’s culture by partnering with the fantastic Buffalo Brewing Company – a brewery dedicated to proudly showcasing many of the significant years in Buffalo’s history, is an honor. We can’t wait to join the community in tasting the new ‘1862’ cream ale at ‘Party for the Portico!’ ”

“Party for the Portico” is a 21-and-over event, celebrating the progress made on the portico restoration to date. Presale tickets are available through Aug. 16 and are $20 general; $10 members.
