Alison Pipitone, Alyn Syms and Tom Lorentz (with special guests the Doo Rags) will be in the spotlight on Saturday, June 8, at the Sportsmen’s Tavern in a special concert presented by the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame. The show starts at 8 p.m. There will also be a Hall of Fame raffle featuring merchandise and a guitar signed by numerous BMHOF inductees.

Lorentz’s career goes back over 50 years, but he is best known for his role in Switch, the legendary Beatles tribute band. Since Ramblin’ Lou Schriver’s death, he has also filled in with Ramblin’ Lou’s Family Band. Lorentz, a 2012 BMHOF inductee, is also the founder of Main Mobility in Clarence.

Singing with Lorentz will be the Doo Rags, in a rare live appearance. The Doo Rags scored R&B hits in the 1980s as Process & the Doo Rags (2015 inductees) with the late Stacey “Wave” Lattimore. The group was one of Rick James’ Buffalo projects.

Syms, meanwhile, is playing some of his best music some 40 years after the heyday of the Alyn Syms Group (ASG), the only local band known to have sold out Shea’s Performing Arts Center. Syms was also a member of the Stone City Band at one point, playing with James on the hit album “Bustin’ Out of L Seven.”

The Alison Pipitone Band has forged a great roots rock sound over the past 25, turning into a powerhouse outfit that also includes Pat Shaughnessy on drums, Graham Howes as lead guitarist, Marc Hunt on bass and Natalie Howes on backing vocals. Pipitone (2017 inductee) and the band recently raised enough money through Kickstarter to release a vinyl single this year.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at www.SportsmensBuffalo.com. The Sportsmen’s Tavern is at 326 Amherst St., Buffalo.
