Part of ‘Tuesdays in the Park’

Popular hitmakers Sugar Ray & Better Than Ezra with special guest Emerson Hart of Tonic will perform on July 9 in the Artpark Amphitheater as part of “Tuesdays in the Park presented by M&T Bank” concert series. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3.

Sugar Ray’s breakthrough hit song “Fly” put them on the map in 1997 and rocketed frontman Mark McGrath to pop-star status. The band later followed with hit singles “Every Morning,” “Someday,” “Falls Apart,” and “When It’s Over,” and selling more than 8 million albums along the way. McGrath has become a TV personality and actor, appearing as part of the “Sharknado” franchise.

Formed in 1988, Better Than Ezra’s hummable melodies, guitar riffs, and confessional lyrics have made them an enduring force in rock music. Their hits “Good,” “Desperately Wanting” and “King of New Orleans” secured spots on the Billboard charts, the former two event landing on the 100 Greatest Alternative Songs and Alternative Artists of All-Time lists. The band remains active in the studio and on the road with a popular live show.

Hart, frontman and songwriter for Tonic, merges raw honesty of rock with unabashed melodies that have resulted in six top 10 singles and such hits as “Open Up Your Eyes,” “You Wanted More” and “If You Could Only See.” He’s also released material as a solo artist.

Tickets for the 6 p.m. show range from $38 for front-of-stage (standing-room-only), reserved seating and general admission bowl, to $17 for general admission lawn. GA prices increase by $5 the week of the show. Tickets can be purchased online at artpark.net and tickets.com; by phone at 1-888-223-6000; or in person at the Artpark box office, 450 S. Fourth St., Lewiston (10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays). Ticket prices include a facility fee; additional fees apply for online and phone orders.
