Island Ship Center becoming UPS Access Point

It’s up to 13 years in business and counting – and 63 services offered and counting – for the Island Ship Center.

The business owned by Seema and Fahim Mojawalla on Whitehaven Road has passed another calendar year in operation.

As their company celebrates the anniversary, the Mojawallas have earned UPS Access Point designation. As a UPS Access Point, the Island Ship Center can offer one more service to free Islanders from having to cross the bridges to do business.

Seema said packages that people receive when they’re not home, but need a signature, are shipped off-Island. Currently, customers have to go to an Access Point in Niagara Falls that is located in a gas station to pick up their packages.

“So because we are we are now authorized to receive those packages that require a signature, anyone on the Island is able to come to us to pick it up,” Seema Mojawalla said.

Fahim Mojawalla said the Island Ship Center is up to 63 services now. “Anyone who gets packages delivered to their house – who orders online and gets packages delivered to their house – and they need a signature and they’re not home designed for the package, that package automatically comes back to the Island Ship Center and they can conveniently pick it up during our business hours,” Fahim said.

The secret to success on the Island for 13 years is to “Listen to our guests,” Seema Mojawalla said. “Whoever walks through that door is a guest.”

“It is our honor that they walk in, and we couldn’t have been here without them,” Seema said.

“And it is our responsibility as a business owner, no matter where you are, to listen to their needs.”

The Wednesday Wisdom quote at the Island Ship Center, drawn by owner Seema Mojawalla, is in solidarity with France in the wake of the Notre Dame Cathedral fire. Fahim said he posted an image of the message along with #NotreDame “to find the positivity among the negative” and to remind people to “look at the heroes” in the event, such as those who risked their lives to save relics from the flames. Finding the silver lining is “Fahim being Fahim,” he said.
