'American Idol' now in the America's hands

Top 14 Perform, America’s Vote Kicks Off Sunday, April 14

After the “American Idol” Top 20 tackled solo and celebrity duet performances, the judges narrowed down the field, revealing the Top 14 finalists. Now, they are handing over the reigns to America, who will vote to crown the next “American Idol.”

Voting will open at the top of the show on Sunday (8 p.m. EDT), and will close the following morning at 9 a.m. Viewers can vote online at AmericanIdol.com/vote, in the “American Idol” app or via text. One can vote 10 times per contestant, per method.

 In this episode, the Top 14 contestants will perform on the iconic “Idol” stage for the first time, in hopes of winning over the hearts of viewers and being voted through to the next phase of the competition. The search for America’s next superstar continues on The ABC Television Network streaming and on demand.

Top 10 Revealed During First Live Show Monday, April 15

The search for America’s next superstar will continue Monday, when “American Idol’s” anticipated live shows begin in the heart of Los Angeles.

In this episode 8 p.m.), the Top 14 contestants will be narrowed down to 10 finalists, following a nationwide vote. After Sunday’s overnight vote, the seven contestants with the most votes by America will be revealed, securing their spot in the Top 10. Those who are safe will perform a victory song, and the seven remaining contestants will sing to impress the judges. The panel will then choose three contestants, pushing a total of 10 “Idol” hopefuls one step closer to stardom.

Helping to determine who America will ultimately vote to become the next singing sensation are music industry legends and all-star judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Emmy Award-winning host and producer Ryan Seacrest hosts the series while famed multimedia personality Bobby Bones acts as in-house mentor.
