The Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday announced the team recalled defenseman Lawrence Pilut from the Rochester Americans (AHL).
Pilut (age 22, 5'11", 187 pounds) joins the Sabres in the midst of a seven-game point streak with Rochester (1 goal, 8 assists). This has propelled him into a tie for the AHL lead with 22 points (3/19) in his first 15 AHL games. He is also tied for second in the league with a plus-16 rating and has gone without a point in just two of his 15 games this season.
The Tingsryd, Sweden, native signed with the Sabres as a free agent in May following a career year with HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League that culminated in his selection as the 2017-18 SHL Defenseman of the Year.
In a corresponding move, the team placed forward Patrik Berglund on injured reserve.
