Kicking-off last week in California, the landmark "Newsboys United Tour" saw sellout crowds throughout the opening weekend. Boasting "all the hits ... under one roof ... for one tour," the history-making Newsboys United lineup played to capacity audiences at City National Civic in San Jose, Redding Civic Auditorium and the Visalia Convention Center, as well as to a near-sellout crowd at Stockton's Bob Hope Theatre.
Drawing legions of devoted fans spanning multiple generations, the "Newsboys United Tour" showcases a headlining set from the supergroup. Each night current members Michael Tait, Duncan Phillips, Jeff Frankenstein and Jody Davis are joined by former members Peter Furler and Phil Joel for a string of the most popular hits from the iconic band's three-decade career.
"I've been on the road all my life, including the famed 'Jesus Freak Tour,' and this is one of my top three favorite tours ever," Tait said. "I am loving this experience!"
"Already this tour has far exceeded our expectations," said Joel, who is also the Zealand frontman. "I don't think any of us knew exactly how monumental it was going to be or just how much it would mean to everyone. It's really special."
Produced by Premier Productions in partnership with the Newsboys, the tour is set to visit more than 30 additional cities across the nation, including Houston, Minneapolis, Dallas and Orlando, before wrapping May 6. The "Newsboys United Tour" features special guest Word Worship recording artist Zealand.
One of the most influential bands in Christian music history, Newsboys have sold more than 8 million units and amassed eight RIAA Gold certifications, 33 No. 1 radio hits, four Grammy Award nominations, two American Music Award nominations and multiple Dove Awards. Comprised of Tait (lead vocals), Davis (guitar), Frankenstein (keys) and Phillips (drums), Newsboys' signature songs include "We Believe," "He Reigns," "Miracles" "Born Again" and their Platinum-certified mega hit, "God's Not Dead."
The latter inspired one of the most popular Christian film franchises of all time, PureFlix's "God's Not Dead" and "God's Not Dead 2," both of which included appearances by the band. "God's Not Dead - A Light In Darkness" hits theaters across the country on March 30.
Pollstar Magazine ranks Premier Productions as the largest producer of live Christian events both nationally and internationally. Over 18 million people have attended a Premier event in more than 4,000 events worldwide. Premier promotes tours for Hillsong UNITED, Hillsong Worship, Young & Free, Kari Jobe, Jesus Culture, Lauren Daigle, Gaither Homecoming, Sadie Robertson, Newsboys, comedian John Crist and Rend Collective, as well as the annual Winter Jam Tour Spectacular and OUTCRY Tours. Premier Festivals promote 10 of the largest Christian festivals in the U.S, and over 80,000 guests have taken cruises and excursions through their vacation experience company, Premier Experience.
