Award-winning police procedural to air on FOX Television stations
NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution has sold "Chicago P.D." to FOX Television Stations; it was announced by Sean O'Boyle, executive vice president of syndication sales, NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution. The show will air weekdays in national syndication beginning in September 2018.
The hit, one-hour dramatic television series is Dick Wolf's second installment in the Chicago franchise. "Chicago P.D." is a riveting police drama about the men and women of the Chicago Police Department's elite intelligence unit. The unit combats the city's most heinous offenses: organized crime, drug trafficking, high-profile murders and beyond.
"Chicago P.D." is set to air weekdays on local broadcast stations, including FOX-owned and operated stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, D.C., Houston, Phoenix, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Orlando and Charlotte, among others.
"We are thrilled to bring another Dick Wolf hit to the broadcast marketplace," said O'Boyle. " 'Chicago P.D.' is a premiere procedural and is a unique opportunity for local broadcasters, as it is the only off-net scripted hour available to play as a Monday-Friday strip. This series will strengthen our partner stations' programming schedules the same way the 'Law & Order' franchise has done over the years."
"Chicago P.D." was created by multiple Emmy Award-winner Dick Wolf ("Chicago" franchise, "Law & Order" branded series) and Matt Olmstead ("NYPD Blue," Prison Break," "Chicago" franchise shows) and developed by Derek Haas ("Chicago Fire," "3:10 to Yuma") and Michael Brandt ("Chicago" franchise shows.") In addition to Wolf and Haas, executive producers include Rick Eid ("Law & Order: SVU," "Hostages,") Peter Jankowski ("Law & Order" branded series, "Chicago" franchise shows,) Arthur Forney ("Law& Order: SVU," "Chicago" franchise shows) and Terry Miller ("Burn Notice.") "Chicago P.D." is produced by Wolf Entertainment in association with Universal Television and is distributed in the U.S. and Canada by NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution.
About 'Chicago P.D.'
Det. Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and his intelligence team have always considered rules to be guidelines more than actual laws. Their goal has always been to protect their great city and they have used unique ways to help bring criminals to justice. Now it's a new day and age in Chicago. Police are under siege and under a microscope - everyone from the federal government to politicians and citizens in their own city are watching. The intelligence team will feel the pressure, and their form of justice will be questioned and challenged.
Today, Chicago is a unique place to be part of the police department. Political and social agendas play key roles in how police function. Racial tensions, agendas of individual politicians, new federal regulations and other issues will be addressed this season. With police reform in full swing, the team is going to be forced to find new ways to achieve their ultimate goal: Justice.
The current cast includes Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, Elias Koteas, LaRoyce Hawkins, Amy Morton and Tracy Spiridakos. Sophia Bush appears in past seasons.
