Online sales will benefit 5 local charities through Cyber Monday
With the holiday season descending upon people faster than a lake effect snowstorm, there is one local item that makes the perfect gift for even the hardest-to-shop-for Buffalonian.
"You Gotta Know Buffalo - My Hometown Edition," a trivia game that celebrates the people, places and events that make up the rich history of the Queen City, was launched Monday by Store (716), a local company that designs Buffalo-themed apparel and gifts. The game, available online at www.store716.com, sells for $19.95 and consists of 500 questions that will spark memories, discussions and laughs from Buffalo lovers. Questions feature a mix of pop culture, news and events that are uniquely Buffalo.
" 'You Gotta Know Buffalo' is for anyone who knows how to say 'Scajaquada,' " said David Gram, game developer and partner in Store (716). "From the media personalities we grew up with and the teams we root for to the local landmarks we all know, it's a lifetime of Buffalo memories in a 4-by-6 box."
In the spirit of the City of Good Neighbors, Store (716) is launching the game with a "Give 'Em Five Week" charity promotion. Starting today and going through the end of Cyber Monday (Nov. 27), five local charities will each receive $1 for every game sold online at www.store716.com during the promotion. That's a total of $5 per game going to support important causes. The five participating charities are: Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper, Camp Good Days, Courage of Carly Fund, Explore & More Children's Museum and MercyFlight.
"Giving back is as much a part of Buffalo's DNA as the local legends and events that inspired the game," added Store (716) partner and fellow game developer Tony Hoffman. "These organizations do such important and amazing work in our community. The trivia game and the 'Give 'Em Five Week' promotion is a way for people who love Buffalo to support organizations that help make Buffalo the place we love."
Only 5,000 copies of the game have been produced, so supplies are limited. "You Gotta Know Buffalo - My Hometown Edition" is a follow-up game to the popular "You Gotta Know Buffalo - Sports Edition" game released by Store (716) in 2014. The sports trivia game sold 10,000 copies.
In addition to the "You Gotta Know Buffalo" trivia games, Store (716) features a wide variety of apparel, accessories and gifts that celebrate the culture and spirit of Buffalo.
