'America's Got Talent' performance confirmed for Aug. 16
Thirteen-year-old singer/songwriter Grace VanderWaal shares her new song "Sick of Being Told" today. The twinkling beat-filled track, produced by Kinetics & One Love, showcases the young singer's buoyant vocal chops while delivering a new sound from her previous releases. The song serves as another look into what's to come from her upcoming debut album.
" 'Sick of Being Told' is a rebellion song, describing that moment when you're ready to stand up for yourself," Grace said. "It's a song of self-empowerment."
"Sick of Being Told" follows the success of Grace's current single, "Moonlight," which is approaching 10 million combined video views to date since its June release, and also has over 6 million streams on Spotify. The song was praised by Billboard as the "perfect summer song," while The New York Times noted that it "sounds like steroidal bluegrass-inflected space-pop."
Following her 2017 Radio Disney Music Award win for The Freshest - Best New Artist earlier this year, Grace is set to appear at Teen Choice 2017 this Sunday, where she's nominated for Choice Next Big Thing. She is also scheduled to return to the "America's Got Talent" stage on Wednesday, Aug. 16, to perform "Moonlight." It was on the show where Grace first captured the hearts of America with her unique singer-songwriter talent, performing all original music using her signature ukulele and capturing the competition's season 11 crown.
Grace is also recognized in Variety's Youth Impact Report 2017, the annual list of young stars - 25 years old and under -that encompasses talent from all platforms.
