NBC Sports' NHL coverage highlighted by Jack Eichel & Buffalo Sabres vs. Detroit; 'Star Sunday' doubleheader, 'Battle for New York'

The "NHL on NBC" continues its "Push for the Playoffs" this week with a "Star Sunday" doubleheader, highlighted by the NHL Game of the Week on Sunday at noon ET on NBC, as Zach Parise and the Minnesota Wild host Henrik Zetterberg and the Detroit Red Wings.

NBC Sports' "Star Sunday" doubleheader continues at 7 p.m. on NBCSN, when Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins host Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers.

This week's NHL action on NBCSN features the "Battle for New York" on "Wednesday Night Rivalry," when Rick Nash and the New York Rangers host John Tavares and the New York Islanders on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Coverage begins tonight on NBCSN at 7:30 p.m., when the Red Wings host Jack Eichel and the Buffalo Sabres at 7:30 p.m., and continues tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. on NBCSN, when the Wild host Brent Burns and the San Jose Sharks.

NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will provide live streaming coverage of this week's NHL matchups.

Four-time Emmy Award-winner Mike "Doc" Emrick (play-by-play), U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk (analyst), and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire ("Inside-the-Glass" analyst) will call Sunday's Wild-Red Wings NHL Game of the Week from Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

John Forslund (play-by-play), Olczyk and McGuire will call Islanders-Rangers from Madison Square Garden in New York, with Forslund and Brian Boucher ("Inside the Glass") calling Flyers-Penguins from PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. Kenny Albert (play-by-play) and McGuire will provide commentary of Sabres-Red Wings from Detroit, and Randy Hahn (play-by-play) and Bret Hedican ("Inside the Glass") will call Sharks-Wild from Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Pregame coverage on "NHL Live" begins one hour prior to games on NBCSN. Liam McHugh and Kathryn Tappen will anchor coverage throughout the week, joined by analysts and former players Keith Jones, Mike Milbury, Jeremy Roenick and Boucher, as well as NHL insider Bob McKenzie for "Wednesday Night Rivalry." Postgame coverage on "NHL Overtime" will air on NBCSN immediately following this week's games.

Sabres-Red Wings

Buffalo (29-31-12, 70 points) is coming off a 2-1 victory against Anaheim on Friday, as the Sabres outlasted the Ducks in a 10-round shootout to earn the win. Jack Eichel assisted on the Sabres' lone goal on Friday, and leads the team with 49 points (20 goals, 29 assists) in 51 games this season. All three matchups between Buffalo and Detroit this season have been decided by one goal.
