Matthews vs. McDavid on Tuesday, Nov. 29

Two of the NHL's biggest stars of the past decade clash on "Wednesday Night Rivalry" this week, when Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals host Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will provide live streaming coverage of Penguins-Capitals and Lightning-Red Wings.

Four-time Emmy Award-winner Mike "Doc" Emrick (play-by-play), U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk, and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire ("Inside-the-Glass" analyst) will call Penguins-Capitals from Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

Pre-game coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. ET with "NHL Live" on NBCSN. Liam McHugh anchors "Wednesday Night Rivalry" studio coverage with analysts Mike Milbury and Keith Jones, as well as NHL insider Bob McKenzie. Post-game coverage on "NHL Overtime" will air on NBCSN immediately following both games.

Pittsburgh and Washington both enter this week's matchup with strong records to open the 2016-17 season. Pittsburgh (10-3-2, 22 points) currently sits in second place in the Metropolitan Division, two points behind the Rangers (12-4-0, 24 pts.) and three ahead of Washington (9-4-1, 19 pts.). The defending Stanley Cup champions are 7-1-1 in their past nine games, and they've been led offensively by Crosby, who is off to one of the hottest starts of his career. Pittsburgh's captain is tied for second in the NHL with 10 goals in just nine games played.

The Capitals are 6-2-0 in their past eight games, including a 3-2 overtime win in Chicago on Friday night, but also a 5-1 loss to the Hurricanes in Raleigh on Saturday. Ovechkin is tied for the team lead in goals (7). Washington plays the Blue Jackets in Columbus on Tuesday before hosting the Penguins on Wednesday. The two teams opened the season against each other last month in Pittsburgh, with the Penguins winning by a score of 3-2 in a shootout.
