The Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo, will present Moscow Festival Ballet in "Giselle" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, inside the Mainstage Theatre at the Center for the Arts (North Campus). The performance is sponsored by M&T Bank.

The Moscow Festival Ballet was founded in 1989 when legendary principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet Sergei Radchenko sought to realize his vision of a company that would bring together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies in an independent new company within the framework of Russian classic ballet. Leading dancers from across Russia have forged, under Radchenko's direction, a new company staging fresh productions of timeless classics.

The MFB has completed multiple tours of Europe and the U.S., and recently completed a tour of Japan, Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong.

"Giselle" is a full-length ballet in two acts with music by Adolphe Adam, libretto by Jules-Henri Vemoy de Saint-Georges and Theophile Gautier, and choreography by Jean Coralli and Jules Joseph Perrot. "Giselle" was first seen in Moscow in 1843, just two years after its creation in Paris, and a year after it was staged in St. Petersburg.

MFB's production maintains the Russian tradition of scrupulous production and loving concern for this gem of the Romantic ballet.
