Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Howard Zemsky today congratulated the 22 New York productions earning 48 nominations for the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards and 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Seventeen New York productions received 31 Golden Globe nominations, and 13 New York productions received 17 SAG Award nominations. All nominated productions participated in the New York State Film Tax Credit Program.

"Thanks to our Film Tax Credit Program, New York state has become a top destination for productions, creating thousands of new jobs and generating billions of dollars in economic activity," Zemsky said. "The film industry is one of New York's most lucrative business sectors, and, as today's many New York state nominees have learned firsthand, New York has access to top-level talent and diverse locations throughout the state."

The Film Tax Credit Program has contributed billions of dollars to the state's economy, and is consistently cited as a leading factor by productions when deciding to film and produce in New York. The 22 productions earning nominations generated more than an estimated $490 million in spending in the state and approximately 31,825 new hires. To date in 2015, a record 197 film and television projects have applied for the Empire State's program, estimated to generate 184,055 new hires and $2.97 billion in new spending for New York.
