The Queen City Roller Girls' internationally ranked all-star travel roller derby team, the Lake Effect Furies, wants your chili. They want your spicy, savory or sweet chili. Make it a meat-lovers or strictly vegetarian; either is OK - these roller derby skaters want it all.

And, if you'd rather just eat the chili, that's OK, too.

Join the Lake Effect Furies from 6:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, for their annual chili cook-off at Appliance Associates of Buffalo, 200 Amherst St. Tickets are $10 and include tastings of all of the chili offerings.

There will be awards for the best chili in these categories.

•Best Overall Chili - Winner receives a trophy, Furies T-Shirt and two tickets to next Furies home bout

•Meat-lovers - Trophy and two tickets to next Furies home bout

•Veggie Delight - Trophy and two tickets to next Furies home bout

And when you need a break from all the fabulous chili and beer, there will be basket and 50/50 raffles. For more information, contact HerHeiny Granger (Melissa Heft-Kalisiak) at [email protected].

The Furies will open their home season in March at the Queen City Roller Girls new home, Buffalo RiverWorks, a new multipurpose venue located at 359 Ganson St., in downtown Buffalo. Full details regarding game times, pricing and ticket availability will be released soon. Visit http://www.qcrg.net/ for the latest details.
