The Wheatfield Business Association inducted its 2014 officers and board members on Feb. 17 at the Meeting Place in Bergholz. Wheatfield Supervisor Bob Cliffe welcomed the WBA members in attendance and proceeded to swear in the following slate of officers:

Sharon DiPasquale as president, Jim Candella as vice president, Michelle Caswell as treasurer, Danny Maerten as secretary and membership chair, Gillis Dube and Rob Allen as two-year board members and Bill O'Farrell as the one-year board member. Afterwards, Cliffe gave a very informative update on the happenings in Wheatfield. He mentioned the pending sale of the old Summit Mall to a Canadian company, some new private projects moving into Wheatfield, acknowledged that some of the rebuilding and widening of Niagara Falls Boulevard is back on the state's five-year itinerary, selected updates on some of the town's master plan and business task forces and the development of a town center.

During the meeting, Maerten, the scholarship chairperson, set up the committee and announced the applications should be available in local high school guidance departments by the end of March and will be announced in the newspapers.

The WBA's annual meat raffle, held last November at St. Johnsburg firehall, was another success, with all proceeds going to the scholarship fund.

The next meat raffle will be held Saturday, Nov. 8.
