Tops completes $3.7 million renovations on 2 Niagara Falls locations

Tops Friendly Markets will celebrate the grand reopening of two of its Niagara Falls locations.

The company will cut a ribbon on these renovation projects on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m. at 7200 Niagara Falls Blvd., and at noon at 4235 Military Road.

A press release stated, “These renovations, totaling over $3.7 million in enhancements, mark the 38th and 39th locations recently updated with a new look and a renewed focus on fresh departments over the past four years.”

It added, “These stores will offer new, enhanced services, an expanded assortment of products, and an enlarged fresh perimeter with new updated décor. The press release stated, “The stores have been refreshed from top to bottom for a new and contemporary experience, which includes new exterior paint with refreshed awnings, landscaping, energy-efficient equipment and LED lighting both inside and out, solar-powered efficiencies, expanded state-of-the-art self-checkouts, renovated restrooms, and new interior décor.”

Tops Friendly Markets President Ron Ferri said, “These significant investments will elevate the customer experience and provide expanded access to fresh foods at our local stores. We’re excited to officially reopen these store locations signifying our continued commitment to the community.”

Tops invites the community to visit during the grand reopening celebration and it’s offering customers the chance to win some prizes included $1,000 in Tops gift cards, a shopping spree at the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls USA, or an evening on Third Street complete with an overnight stay at the Sheraton Niagara Falls. During the ribbon-cutting celebrations, Tops will present community donations totaling $12,000 back to a variety of local nonprofits, “positively impacting local first responders, area schools, food pantries and veteran organizations.”

Renovations include an expanded produce area complete with seasonal items; and an expansion of the deli, cheeses and specialty items and carry out café areas.

District Manager Jon Douglas said, “At Tops, we constantly evaluate the best ways to serve our local customers and reinvest into our communities. These latest enhancements will help make life a little easier for shoppers by focusing on affordable, easy-to-prepare meal options and a wider selection of products.”

Tops now boasts additional gluten-free items, including some from Vin-Chet’s; an increase of antibiotic-free meat, plant-based options, sustainable seafood selections, freshly prepared sushi (at the Niagara Falls Boulevard location), along with a larger selection of certified organic offerings that are fully integrated in aisle; and an expanded section of the store dedicated to healthy hydration, including waters, teas, mixers and sparkling waters.

The Niagara Falls Boulevard stores remodel also includes the pharmacy, now with a new waiting area that provides a wide variety of services to the community seven days a week.

Tops also will offer its Flashfood program at both locations. Flashfood is an app-based marketplace that strives to eliminate food waste by connecting consumers with discounted food nearing its best-by date. Shoppers can buy items from Tops through the Flashfood app and pick them up in-store. This allows customers to save up to 60% off items including produce, meat, deli, bakery and dairy.
