BISON Fund executive director announces departure

Board will begin search for new executive director

The BISON Children’s Scholarship Fund announced its long-term executive director, Amy Popadick, will depart the organization at the end of the year.

BISON is a private charity that raises donations to provide scholarships enabling low-income children to attend private grammar and high schools of their parent’s choice.

A press release noted, “Popadick has been the executive director of BISON for more than 10 years and, under her tenure, has grown the organization significantly. Popadick is departing BISON to take a position with the Children’s Scholarship Fund, a foundation focused on promoting school choice nationwide.” 

BISON co-founder and Board President Chris Jacobs said, “Amy has served as an incredible leader to BISON throughout her decade of leading the organization. At her direction, we have grown significantly and expanded our ability to provide scholarships to children throughout Western New York seeking educational opportunities. She has been an invaluable asset. Although we are saddened by her departure, we are grateful for her service and know this new position is an incredible opportunity for her, and she will continue to excel in her career. We wish her the best in this new endeavor.”

Founded in 1995, BISON has grown from providing 200 scholarships in its first year to now providing more than 2,000 scholarships annually. It is the fifth-largest program of its kind in the nation. For more information, interested parties can visit www.bisonfund.com.
