Own a historic home listed in the National Register of Historic Places? Then you may have the opportunity to earn a historic tax credit on qualified rehabilitation expenditures.

Join Preservation Buffalo Niagara (PBN) for a free workshop at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the Niagara Falls Public Library, Earl W. Brydges Building, 1425 Main St., Niagara Falls, for an evening filled with historic tax credit information. At the workshop, participants will learn about the available homeowner and commercial historic tax credits, including other eligibility criteria, what kinds of work qualifies and how to submit an application.

Whether one is planning on rehabilitating a primary residence or a commercial property, there are state and federal incentives that may help. Rehabilitation projects that qualify for historic tax credits include but are not limited to interior and exterior painting, system upgrades, roof replacements, masonry repairs, window and door repairs, and floor refinishing.

While this workshop is free and open to the public, space is limited and pre-registration is requested.

To register or to check whether a property is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, contact PBN's director of preservation services, Christiana Limniatis, at 716-852-3300 or c[email protected].

Preservation Buffalo Niagara is the region’s only full-service, professionally staffed preservation organization providing leadership in identifying, protecting and promoting the unique architecture and historic legacy of Western New York communities. Since 2008, PBN has successfully worked with homeowners, developers, elected officials and community members to protect the character of the region, and to encourage economic and neighborhood revitalization through the utilization of historic preservation best practices.
