The Canisius Board of Regents will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the college’s 1870 founding on Saturday, May 2, when it hosts “Canisius 150: A Blue & Gold Gala” at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo. Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m.; dinner is at 7 p.m., followed by a celebrity headliner performance by Grammy Award nominee and showman Tony Orlando.

Independent Health is the presenting sponsor of the event.

“Canisius 150: A Blue & Gold Gala” is part of the college’s yearlong sesquicentennial celebration to mark 150 years of Jesuit education and leadership in the City of Buffalo and Western New York.

In addition to the headliner performance by Orlando, prize packages will be raffled off throughout the evening. Proceeds from the gala benefit Canisius Fund 150, the college’s sesquicentennial fundraising campaign, which supports the greatest needs of the college and its students.

Canisius College Board of Regents members Timothy P. Balkin, Class of ’81, and Michael G. Christiano, ’83, are co-chairs of “Canisius 150: A Blue & Gold Gala.” Tickets are on sale. Tables of 10 are available for $3,500. Individual tickets are also available for $350, or $200 for young alumni (graduates of Canisius between the years 2010-19).
