Cheryl Krouse of Lewiston’s Samana Salt Spa appointed educational director by The International Salt Spa Therapy Association

Cheryl Krouse, co-owner and educator at Samana Salt Spa in Lewiston, was recently named educational director with The International Salt Spa Therapy Association.

A certified halotherapist, and a health and wellness educator, Krouse has a BS in health science, physical education and exercise physiology, an MS in health and human performance (specialization in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation), and is a licensed massage therapist and registered yoga teacher.

Krouse and her partner, architect Jim Fittante, were both featured speakers at the STAcon (Salt Therapy Association) Live 2019 industry event in Orlando.

A press release stated, “Through research and industry-leading and patent-pending salt distribution technologies employed at their local WNY facility, developed by her and her business partner, architect Jim Fittante, Ms. Krouse has created educational programs which will become valuable tools that will be utilized by the industry and STA members moving forward in this fast growing health movement-based on its documented health benefits.”

The Salt Therapy Association was founded in 2014 to provide resources, information, research and standards to support, promote and create awareness about salt therapy (halotherapy) for the industry, businesses, and consumers. With over 1,500 members in 25 countries, the STA is the largest organization of salt therapy facilities, professionals and enthusiasts in the world.

The press release added, “Used for centuries for healing and wellness benefits, salt therapy has recently enjoyed a worldwide surge in popularity among spas and wellness centers. Today, clients enjoy salt modalities such as halotherapy, Himalayan salt brick walls, salt stone massage treatments and more.”

Krouse and Fittante had training classes in Wieliczka Salt Mine in Wieliczka, Poland, before Samana Salt Spa opened last March at 700 Center St., in Lewiston. They said their salt spa is working on cutting-edge technologies in the salt therapy and wellness industry.

Samana offers:

•Salt therapy halotherapy (dry salt therapy). Dry salt therapy, or halotherapy, is a holistic, drug-free natural therapy using micro particles of salt to promote better breathing, healthier skin, sounder sleep, improved physical fitness and endurance and overall wellness.

•One large salt room (up to 14 people) and a brand-new salt suite (two people).

•Massage therapy (three rooms) with Swedish, therapeutic, couples massage, hot salt stone, reiki, facials and salt scrubs.

•Wellness training, cooperate events and parties in a center that seats up to 40 people.
