Ransomville Speedway will welcome back The Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints for the first time in over 10 years when the winged sprint cars take to the “Big R” on Aug. 14, 2020, in a special doubleheader with the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds.

The Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) is one of the most prominent touring series for 360 Sprint Cars in the region, holding events across New York, Ontario and Quebec. Paulie Colagiovanni of Cicero was crowned the 2019 ESS tour champion after amassing seven wins this past season. Chuck Hebing, Jonathan Preston, Jason Barney, Billy VanInwegen and Davie Franek were among the notable drivers to also take home a checkered flag with the ESS in 2019.

The ESS was regular visitors to Ransomville in the late 1980s and 1990s. The last race at the “Big R” came in 2009 when Jason Barney claimed the victory. Gordy Button, Mike Van Dusen, John Birosh, Tom Taber, George Suprick, Craig Keel and Lance Yonge have also visited victory lane at the facility in ESS competition.

A twin bill of 358 Modifieds and Sprints will make for a can’t-miss show on Friday, Aug. 14. The Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Stevenson’s Hardware Novice Sportsman will also be in action that night.

Ransomville Speedway will announce additional special events for the 2020 season in the coming weeks, including more sprint car events.

Ransomville Speedway is located on Braley Road in the hamlet of Ransomville. “The Big R” is a 3/8-mile DIRTcar sanctioned facility that is the home of the Summer Nationals. Ransomville also features a 1/16-mile Go-Kart track for action on the “Little R” on Thursday nights. For more information, visit www.ransomvillespeedway.com.
