9th annual event a hit with crowd on sunny, summerlike day
So many press releases and events promise “something for everyone.” It’s cliché – and usually misleading.
But the oft-used statement actually lived up to its intent on Sunday, as Artpark & Company’s annual “Fairy House Festival” offered a flurry of activities designed for all age groups. In fact, in each corner of the lower park area – where the event returned this year – one could find some new activity or sight. Throughout the afternoon, children and families dressed up, made fairy houses, concocted potions, visited the tea house, listened to music – made music in the interactive instrument garden – danced with costumed characters, picnicked and played games.
Then, at 4 p.m., Ukrainian “ethno-chaos band" DakhaBrakha put on a show for the adults seated around the Emerald Grove Stage. The foursome drummed, sang, made unexpected musical noises and spurred the large crowd to dance.
