Honoring veterans and active military has become a tradition at the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

The BPO presents “An American Salute” at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, and at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Kleinhans Music Hall. Veterans and active military are invited to attend either performance free of charge. Those attending the concert with them will receive a 20 percent discount on their ticket.

Anyone wishing to attend should call the BPO box office at 716-885-5000 or visit in person at Kleinhans Music Hall, 3 Symphony Circle, Buffalo, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, or noon to 3 p.m. on Sundays.

BPO Principal Pops Conductor John Morris Russell will conduct this year’s concert. Rachel Potter, Nashville recording artist and finalist on “The X Factor,” will be the guest soloist and narrator, and the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus will join the orchestra in performing an array of Americana music.

“Throughout the season, the BPO partners with Vet Tix to offer free tickets to active and veteran military,” said Patrick O’Herron, director of marketing. “For Memorial Day weekend, though, we wanted to reach out to military personnel in the community who may not be aware of Vet Tix and honor their service.”

This year, the BPO is also offering patrons a chance to honor a veteran through a gift to the BPO. To honor a veteran, visit https://bpo.org/event/an-american-salute/
