For well over a decade now, the Niagara Wine Trail USA wineries have partnered with local food banks and charitable organizations. This year is no different. To ensure a bountiful holiday season for area residents in need, the annual "Share the Bounty" event will be held Veterans Day Weekend, Nov. 10-12.
A popular event for wine trail patrons and winery owners, "Share the Bounty" is expected to draw hundreds of people along the wine trail each day of the event, with thousands being donated to worthy causes over the course of three days.
Last year, in exchange for wine tastings, the Niagara Wine Trail USA wineries collected more than $9,550 in monetary donations, nonperishable food (including peanut butter and jelly jars for the Peanut Butter & Jelly drive), pet food and items for animal shelters in need.
All participating Niagara Wine Trail USA wineries will accept donations in exchange for wine tastings to benefit the food bank or nonprofit of each winery's choice during the event. A complete list of participating wineries, their chosen charity, and the accepted tasting fee/donation are listed on the trail's website: www.NiagaraWineTrail.org (sponsored charities and tasting fees may be subject to change).
"Share the Bounty" will be held until 5 p.m. each day. Attendees are asked to check winery open hours, as some may vary on either Saturday and Monday. All wineries open at noon on Sunday.
Tickets will not be sold for this event, so be sure to bring the requested nonperishable/monetary donation. Groups traveling by bus or limo must call and make reservations with each winery on their itinerary in advance of the event.
Designated drivers and non-drinker attendees are always welcome at the wineries at no charge.
