Niagara Falls: More sign on for Art of Beer

Mon, Mar 5th 2018 03:00 pm
Raise your glasses for another Art of Beer fundraiser at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center. The annual event is set for Friday, March 9. Pictured in front of some art gallery pieces are, from left, Todd Snyder of Niagara Craft Spirits in Cambria (as well as some of his product); Christine Wittmann, an artist with bfloGALS, a Niagara Falls-based handcrafted artisan jewelry studio; and Kelly Lang Buckley, director of development and marketing at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center.
This year, with heating costs on the rise and large-scale theater restorations in the nonprofit NACC's future, support for the art center is needed more than ever.
That's where business owners and local chefs are rising to the challenge, donating 100 percent of their products and services at this year's fundraiser. Participants said they're hoping to entice patrons by providing an all-inclusive culinary experience.
Local chefs and brewers are creating one-of-a-kind recipes to entice foodies to the Art of Beer, which runs from 6-9 p.m.
Bringing old-world traditions and epicurean experiences to the event is chef Frank Dispenza of Dispenza's Meat Market, 3130 Ridge Road, Ransomville. This former instructor at the Niagara Culinary Institute will be participating in the AOB for a third time, this year bringing his farm-to-table baby-back ribs and fresh Italian chicken sausage.
Dispenza's plans to add a new item: "Niagara Spirit Meatballs." The tasty treat is the result of a partnership with Niagara Craft Sprits - a New York state farm distillery located at 4408 Ridge Road, Cambria.
Niagara Craft Sprits produces an array of small-batch, handcrafted spirits, including white and wood-aged whiskeys and gins.
"I'm excited to be at the Art of Beer. There is something special about this event, about that place. It has a feeling of community you just don't find everywhere," Snyder said. "I am proud to now be an official part of it"
The collaborations and unique tasting experiences don't end there. With more than 50 tasting stations, AOB is one of the largest culinary fundraisers in the region. That's fitting, as the NACC is among the largest art centers in the country. The unique regional asset is the location of the WNY Underground Railroad Exhibit, the annual Artists of Color Art Exhibit (currently on display), 70 artist studios, opera and classical music performances, independent theater and more than 12 fine art gallery shows per year.
AOB tickets are $40 at the door. Advance-sale tickets are available for $35 at Niagara Tradition Homebrew Supply, Brewed and Bottled Craft Beer Shop, Dispenza's Meat Market, The Craft Kitchen and Bar, and the Hard Rock Cafe, plus online at www.thenacc.org.
The Niagara Arts and Cultural Center is located at 1201 Pine Ave, Niagara Falls.
