Tickets now on sale for red carpet event at Buffalo's famed film venue
Buffland Productions and Boling Entertainment Management have announced the Lance Diamond documentary, "A Diamond in the Buff," directed by Kevin Polowy and Brandon Rae, will make its world premiere at 7 p.m. July 20 at the North Park Theatre in Buffalo.
Advance tickets are now on sale for via North Park's website: https://www.northparktheatre.org/shows/700-pm-lance-diamond-diamond-buff-world-premiere/ Tickets are $15 in advance and (depending on availability) $20 at the door.
The event will be preceded by red carpet appearances by the film's directors, as well as members of Diamond's family members and VIP guests to be announced. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers, as well as an official after-party at Milkie's on Elmwood featuring live music from numerous Diamond collaborators.
"After years of working on this project, we are beyond thrilled to finally unveil the incredible true story of local legend Lance Diamond to audiences," said Polowy, a North Buffalo native based in Los Angeles. " We can't wait for Buffalo to see it. It's not only a celebration of Lance Diamond's legacy, but it really captures the essence of the city and its people. Ultimately it's a love story between Lance and Buffalo."
Rae, also an L.A. transplant who hails from the Great Lakes region, added: "As a Clevelander, I've always a kinship with the great City of Buffalo, and we're thrilled to be premiering this amongst all of the people who helped us along the way."
"A Diamond in the Buff," which began production in 2015, tells the incredible, poignant life story of the larger-than-life Buffalo lounge singer Lance Diamond. The sharp-dressed, silky-voiced showman was an early rival of Rick James and a featured vocalist of the Goo Goo Dolls.
Many believe he should have basked in the glory of international fame and fortune. Yet, due to the entertainer's refusal to leave his hometown, Diamond instead was destined to become the ultimate local legend.
Polowy is a City Honors graduate and a 15-year veteran of entertainment media. He is currently a senior correspondent, writer and host for Yahoo Movies, regularly conducting interviews with the biggest names in Hollywood. He previously held similar posts at MTV Networks, AOL/Moviefone and URB Magazine. Polowy is also a screenwriter, director, producer and DJ.
Rae has 10-plus years of experience in production and digital content development. He began his career with MTV Networks, where he worked in business development, digital operations and new media content. He's also served as a showrunner for Yahoo Entertainment and executive producer for Disney's Maker Studios. Rae currently works as director of development for Defy Media, overseeing series across their digital brands.
Buffland Productions LLC is a multimedia production company formed by Polowy and Rae. The filmmakers, who met as colleagues at MTV Networks, both recently located from New York City to Los Angeles. The company's name pays tribute to their beloved Rust Belt hometowns - Buffalo and Cleveland - America's two most tortured sports cities and/or "underrated metropolises of awesome."
"A Diamond in the Buff" marks the first feature to be produced by Buffland Productions.
Boling Entertainment Management promoted the Buffalo release of the Harlem Film Company movie "Chapter & Verse," and is working on movie premieres for "Diamond in the Buff," as well as "Marshall," the Thurgood Marshall biopic filmed in Buffalo.
CEO/President Trent Boling founded the entertainment management company and is currently working with Andrew Dan Jumbo (TLC network), Ransomville (country music sensation), and R&B soul act WUDDHA.
